Silver Street Studios: Alexandra Sivov
I’m taking my time to make this post on Alexandra Sivov because she has impressed me over the last two years with her dedication not to mention her fantastic work. Every time I stop by, I see something new and more complex. This is an artist not afraid to grow and try new things.
Sivov’s work is abstraction, not abstract, meaning she begins with a real world subject and abstracts it. Most of her prints are collagraphs and she has also made several mixed media paintings and some ceramics.
Sivov was born in France, lived in Venezuela and London for a while and moved to Houston in 2010. I think her “world citizenship” is evident in the very strong use of layers and textures. As we talked and I learned more, I was able to confirm the strong spiritual nature of Sivov’s work.
As a growing artist, she knows she needs to clear out the studio of older work so make room for all she’s working on now. This is therefore a strong purchase opportunity! She’s currently offering half off some paintings and a few prints for $100. The items listed “not for sale” may be going to a gallery in Oxford, London soon so they cannot be sold at this time. Email her here for purchase inquiries.
